Today was a busy day.We started early by getting Josh off to scout camp. Up until now, he's only done overnight camps, but this week he will be gone for SIX days! Kinda weird sending your child away for that long. I still can't believe all these little milestones that keep coming and going so fast. I gave him a lecture about keeping his whistle/compass with him at all times. Seems like there are always a few boy scouts that get lost each year and it's not going to be him! I have one goal for camp this week: come home with as many merit badges as possible. Since I'm such a capable scout mom (um, yea), I am relying heavily on good leaders and other moms that have already braved their way through scoutland. Oh the joys.
Next, Andrew and Sarah got all spruced up for their first day of school. Wait. Didn't we just end the school year? Oh yea, we did. So it goes with year round school. I felt a little mixed about school starting today. Looking forward to a routine and more food around the house (all they do when they are home is eat!). However, I'm not so excited about having to be "responsible mommy." You know, actually signing papers, paying attention to projects, reading minutes etc. Ugh. We took our traditional stand-by-the-front-door-on-the-first-day-of-school photos. Note Andrew's new shoes...he was especially excited. Note Sarah's absence of her glasses...mom, not so excited(they are currently lost). Here's to a new school year whether I'm ready or not!

They are so cute! What's the deal with the glasses? She doesn't wear them for pictures?
We don't start again until August 18th. I thought it would be a nice break, but this week I am wishing they were already back in school!
Wow Scout Camp!!! Easton won't be doing that till next year I guess! We are home now...sorry we couldn't get together we had 2 reunions and only came for a week and a half! I just need to move back...!
Boy this post hit home. My two boys just went on their first overnighter and I was a nervous wreck! I'm usually a pretty laid back mom, but something about trusting them to just their scout leader...no other mom's to keep an eye out for things men never think of, but boys do...etc. They did great, but it made me wonder what I'm going to be like next year when it's scout camp time...I may need drugs for the anxiety, but I could also have an empty home since Mychel leaves for college in a month and who knows what next summer will bring.Hmm, that's a bright spot, I think... Ok this is more like a post than a comment... sorry. Love ya...love peeking in to see what's going on and say, "hi".
OMGosh - they are so so grown up...especially Sarah...so hard for me -- she'll always be that darling little 3 year old who crushed chalk into your carpet! :)

Oh my gosh Julie.... I bet that is so weird to send him off to scout camp. I can't believe we are getting to be "that" old. I hope he has a great time. I hear ya on the merit badge thing. I don't have a clue.
Josh is too young to go to camp for a week, don't let him go Julie!!!! hehe. Well at least it's all boys and no yucky girls. School is almost here for us too which reminds me I better order up my curriculum, thanks for ruining my night. LOL. The joys of motherhood and responsibilities... I hear ya! I wish you were nearby so we can go out and see a chick flick... that should help us feel a little irresponsible.
Yes - Brandon is at scout camp right now. it seems like a long week! We start school on the 11th. Your kids look great! Brandon has been trying not to wear his glasses as much - but still needs them.
Can't wait to hear Josh's stories. Let's home his Scout Master wasn't as militiristic as Old Man Hansen of Troop 347.
